From Jose Castañeda
Researching his Grandfather:
Francisco McManus Tree
I am looking for it now - I did just see these comments from 8 years ago on Francisco Profile from one of the Trees that feature him
Dates: If you look at the 1860 Ohio Census Jane (Ford) MacManus was 67, her birth would have been 1793 not 1810
I know this is the right Jane because three of her children are listed Mary (26) Francisco (45) Sarah (42) & Robert Porter (42) Sarah's husband.
Francis MacManus is not in this census, so he must have died before 1860 So it hard to pinpoint when the family moved to Mexico
All of their children were born in Penn. Between 1844 and 1856 three of their children were married in Ohio Sarah, John, & Alice
In 1858 Son George marries in Mexico to a Mexican Citizen.
This is two years before the 1860 Ohio census
So when did the family move to Mexico?
I always assumed the whole family did, but with the 1860 Census showing Jane Ford MacManus in Ohio with her children and grandchildren, and Francis no longer listed. I wonder if only the three sons Francisco, Edward, and George moved to Mexico.
They all married Mexican Citizens, and all three died in Mexico.
There is an 1850 census showing Edward MacManus living in Ohio, but also married a Mexican Citizen, I assume he died there, but there is no record as of yet.
I'm going to go back and check the 1850 record to see if Francis MacManus was still Alive.
Also, did you check that Flckr page for Ignacio MacManus Olivares!
Something interesting is in one of the photos in the album.
There is a photo of a rather important looking man titled Maximilion.
I researched this man ant that is Maximilian I Emperor of Mexico.
He and his wife did not have any children but adopted three grandchildren of a previous Mexican Emperor. I believe this family is related to those adopted Children.
One of the children's spouses name is very similar to Ignacio's wife's name.
Patricia Magrum 8 years ago Re: Dates: In the 1860 census, Panchita is 11 and her birthplace is listed as Mexico, so Francis (her father) must have been there before 1850.
Francis McManus is supposed to have died in Chihuahua in 1878
